Addicted. That would be the one word I would use to describe myself in the art of waterfowl hunting. I am about as hardcore as they come. The nastier the weather, the happier I am. Those days are the days where the true waterfowl hunters separate themselves from the "weekend warriors". My favorite days are the "Ice Beard Days", when icicles form off of my yearly beard that I grow specifically for waterfowl hunting. That's the good stuff!
Being a Maryland boy, I am constantly appreciative of the resources available from our Chesapeake Bay. I get everything in my great state when it comes to waterfowl hunting. I can chase divers one day, puddlers the next, and then finish my week with a non-stop shooting sea duck hunt. That's not even tapping into the geese, which inhabit the Eastern Shore by the millions. I am a very lucky man, for that is exactly what I do. Whatever the weather puts in front of my will dictate which species I chase.
You can tell I live in a waterfowl oriented household, not just by the 35 duck mounts. I have two boys, Frankie and AJ, and sometimes they will spot a goose or a duck before I do, and make sure they point them out to me. I absolutely love it. Even at their young age, I involve them in everything that I do. Whether its fixing the blind, or painting up some sea duck decoys, they are a part of it.
